After spending her first four years in an artist loft in downtown Los Angeles, Djani Jaya Alexander grew up in Portland, Oregon.  She spent many weekends at the Portland Saturday Market, and on the road at art and craft shows across the Western States.  She always took a stack of books.  She developed painting, ceramic, and performance skills at Buckman Arts Focus School.  She took to creative writing while at the Metropolitan Learning Center, and became increasingly involved in community service, particularly as a library volunteer.  She has been on the Honor Roll each year of High School.  After completing High School she dreams of studying Creative Writing in College.
